V-day or Bust: Make a Miracle Mile Getaway at Kimpton's Hotel Wilshire
[caption id=“” align=“aligncenter” width=“500”] Hotel Wilshire Roof Pool[/caption] Back in the Fall, I made a little getaway to a familiar area (no, I won’t use that word that begins with “stay” and ends with “-tion”). It was a welcome chance to really explore what I already thought I knew, and the Hotel Wilshire was the perfect home base. The Hotel Wilshire is walking distance to LACMA, but also to Petersen Automotive Museum. Both museums are the venues of so many cultural events, which makes the hotel seem like a great place for out-of-town visitors to establish their base or for locals to crash after a nearby gala. The rotating exhibits make it perfect for locals to visit time and time again. You’ll want to stop in at Short Order for a burger and a cocktail and Short Cake for their top-notch pastries and Single Origin coffee. Also nearby is 3rd Street, with its vintage stores, boutiques (Polkadots and Moonbeams, Douglas Fir, Flight 001) and even a couple of my personal favorite restaurants (Robata Jinya and Son of a Gun). Peruse the store and deli at Joan’s on Third. It’s pretty much a Mid-city West Wonderland. And while The Foundry continues to be a Melrose Avenue neighborhood mainstay, at the Hotel Wilshire, you’ll be able to get a taste of Eric Greenspan’s creations while in view of a 360 degree view of Los Angeles - clear to the Hollywood Hills - all at The Roof on Wilshire, just upstairs from your fancy suite. I really loved the clean lines of the accommodations as well as the green-focused business model at the Hotel Wilshire, which also just got a revamp due to Klimpton’s acquisition. Now there are hosted evening wine receptions, a pet-friendly policy, snazzy animal print robes and eco-friendly products and practices. So whether for Valentine’s Day or for any other reason this February, they’re offering 30% off in the form of a Get Your Sexy Back Romance Package, which includes:
- Suite accommodations with an Aphrodisiac Amenity
- Fork Me, Spoon Me, the Sensual Cookbook from Amy Reiley, Master of Gastronomy and aphrodisiac food authority
- Two signature Kimpton animal print bathrobes
- $125 food and beverage credit to be used toward Valentine’s Day dinner for two at Eric Greenspan’s The Roof on Wilshire
- Late check out of 2 p.m.
- Valet parking
The $600 package (additional nights are $300 each) can be booked online or by calling 866.650.2154 during the month of February. So book your getaway for this month. Whether you’re checking out the Stanley Kubrick exhibit, celebrating Enzo Ferrari’s 100th Birthday (February 16th) or taking a tour at Petersen’s antique Vault, your Miracle Mile getaway couldn’t be better timed.
