Monday League Nights at The Spare Room Hollywood with Caliche Rum Cocktails
[caption id=“” align=“aligncenter” width=“500”] Jazz the Glass - Caliche Rum, fresh pineapple and basil, house orgeat, citrus, float of medium Fino Sherry[/caption] It’s always a good time to visit The Spare Room inside the Roosevelt, but in case you needed a better reason to visit on a Monday, they’ve got one. League Nights by Caliche Rum at this first-rate hotel bar give Naomi Schimek good reason to come up with some fantastic cocktails, and she runs the gamut with her cocktail menu that goes 4 deep. [caption id=“” align=“alignright” width=“240”] Shining Star - Caliche Rum, passion fruit syrup, fresh lime, Green Chartreuse, egg white, served aflame[/caption] I love her use of basil in Jazz the Glass, which really adds a nice aroma and freshens up the sweet in this Tiki cocktail. At the same time, the theatrics of a flaming lime slice is just the beginning of The Shining Star, which really packs a punch (don’t let the egg white fool you). And if you’re open to a Rum Manhattan variation, the Whist, so cleverly enhanced with Applejack, will be just your thing. They are pretty much all delicious. The full menu:
The Shining Star: Caliche Rum, passion fruit syrup, fresh lime, Green Chartreuse, egg white, served aflame Whist: Caliche Rum, Carpano Antica, Applejack, bitters, served Manhattan style Caliche Sling: Caliche Rum, fresh lemon, simple syrup, bitters, club soda Jazz The Glass: Caliche Rum, fresh pineapple and basil, housemade orgeat, fresh citrus and a float of medium fino sherry Classics such as the Daiquiri, Honeysuckle and Queen’s Park Swizzle are also available upon request.
And since food at The Spare Room is so rare, you’l appreciate that eats by The Spare Room’s new Food Director, Brittany Cassidy, will be supplied on Mondays, as well. Try Oyster Shooters ($9) with Kumamoto oysters, cilantro and tamarind, or the Deviled Egg Trio ($8) with caviar, creme fraiche, bacon & maple syrup. If you’re looking for something a little more substantial, they’ve got you covered as well, with a Short Rib Confit and Patty Melt available ($12 ea). Each week, they’ll have a different themed tournament to mix things up. But as always, their games are available to rent for free (just deposit your ID) and if you want to bowl ($100/hour), be sure to reserve ahead of time. And don’t forget to pop in to the photo booth for a few snaps of you and your friends before you leave!
Mondays: Themed tournaments weekly
